We have enough negative messages sent to our girls that weaken their self-esteem, image, confidence, and worth. We are here to replace those messages with the TRUTH! You are a DIVA and nothing less.

This program is designed to Educate, Equip and Empower girls through Dialogue, Encouragement, Self-Enrichment, and to build character, promote friendships and personal growth as they move from one developmental stage of this program to the next.

About 

The 5 W's of D.I.V.A.S.

WHO are we?

A community-based program passionate about cultivating the next generation of beautiful young ladies through the various transitions from childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. We are a team of women invested in the potential and productivity of our girls.

WHAT do we do?

Our mission is to: Educate, Equip, and Empower girls ages 13-17 through Dialogue, Encouragement, Self-Enrichment, and to build character, promote friendships, and personal growth.

WHEN do we meet?

The 2nd Saturday of every month from 1:00pm - 2:00pm (virtually).We operate during the school year, from September – June.

WHY do we exist?

Our vision is to create a safe place for young girls to voice their concerns, fellowship with their peers, & forge new friendships, all while being empowered, building Christ-like characteristics as they move from one developmental stage to the next.

HOW can YOU be apart?

Girls ages 13-17 who wish to join, and women who wish to volunteer as mentors, send an email to divas1@shinedc.org

Program Leader

In her ongoing mission to interpret human behavior, she has participated in various community  initiatives ranging from counseling and legal components of domestic violence, interactive  county sheriff department programs, secondary educational system speaking engagements, and  leadership memberships. 

As a current Federal Government employee with almost 20 years of service, she has devoted  most of her Federal career experience in the area of Ethics while completing two comprehensive  and dynamic Federal Leadership Programs. 

Dr. Devine attained a Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare  Management from Walden University, a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a  specialization in Adlerian Theory and Psychotherapy from Bowie State University, a Bachelor of  Science in Family Studies from the University of Maryland College Park, and her pursuit for  higher education began at Prince George’s Community College. She is passionate about cultures and is an avid traveler (which includes completing her 2nd doctoral residency in Hammersmith,  England). Her belief in building positive relationship in others is rooted in leadership,  understanding, and ethics. 

Dr. Jeannette Devine is a creative and multi-talented professional.
