We have enough negative messages sent to our girls that weaken their self-esteem, image, confidence, and worth. We are here to replace those messages with the TRUTH! You are a DIVA and nothing less.


This program is designed to Educate, Equip and Empower girls through Dialogue, Encouragement, Self-Enrichment, and to build character, promote friendships and personal growth as they move from one developmental stage of this program to the next.


The 5 W's of D.I.V.A.S.

WHO are we?

A community-based program passionate about cultivating the next generation of beautiful young ladies through the various transitions from childhood, through adolescence, and into adulthood. We are a team of women invested in the potential and productivity of our girls.

WHAT do we do?

Our mission is to: Educate, Equip, and Empower girls ages 13-17 through Dialogue, Encouragement, Self-Enrichment, and to build character, promote friendships, and personal growth.

WHEN do we meet?

The 2nd Saturday of every month.We operate during the school year, from September – June.

WHY do we exist?

Our vision is to create a safe place for young girls to voice their concerns, fellowship with their peers, & forge new friendships, all while being empowered, building Christ-like characteristics as they move from one developmental stage to the next.

HOW can YOU be apart?

Coordinator/Performance Improvement-Quality Assurance Manager and Case Management Supervisor in the Foster Care Division. Ms. Terry was a licensed foster parent for several teenagers for 15 years. She also was a mentor for female teenagers with National Youth Advocate Program in Matteson, IL for 10 years.


In 2013, Ms. Tammie relocated to Maryland and continues to work with children, adults and families in the Human Service/Social Service spectrum. In 2008, prior to leaving Chicago, IL, Ms. Terry became the co-founder of Divine Damsel organization which sponsored Debutante Balls in the south suburbs of Chicago. She was a youth minister for more than 10 years.

In 2015, Ms. Terry joined the New Commandment Baptist Church in Bowie, MD, under the leadership of Dr. Stephen E. Tucker, Pastor. She currently serves as one of the youth ministers. Ms. Terry’s experience provides her with the opportunity to guide and empower the lives of the Debutantes.

With a love for baking, Ms. Terry is the proprietor of TT’s Sweets, which specializes in cupcakes. Based on her love for the homeless population, Ms. Terry, along with two others, established H3: Helping Hands Heal in 2015. Ms. Terry displays her love for teenagers in her home, on her job, and with her youth at church.

In 2015, she was asked to serve as the Secretary for Girls On The Move and the Coordinator of their Annual Debutante Balls. She is honored for the privilege to pour into the lives of the young ladies. In 2019 Ms. Terry has begun working with SHINE - Community Development Corporation (CDC) DIVAS and Shining Stars.

TAMMIE S. TERRY was born and raised in the Chicago land area. She is an alumnus of Western Illinois University where she received her Bachelors in both History and English. She received a Master’s in Public Administration from Governors State University in University Park, IL. For 16 years, she was employed by Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center, Inc., where she worked as a supervisor in the Residential Division and as the Intake
